"Coast Of Your Journey" — The light was already dropping toward the horizon as I worked along the granite shoreline at Peggy’s Cove. The ocean was relatively calm, with only subtle movement beyond the rocks, while pools of water collected in the foreground between the worn stone. The lighthouse stood above it all, steady and unmoving against the fading sky.
The sunset developed quickly, casting warm tones across the scene and reflecting into the still pools carved into the granite. That reflection became a key part of the composition, adding a quiet counterbalance to the open ocean behind it. Timing was important — waiting for the light to reach a point where the sky, the lighthouse, and the foreground reflections all held together without one overpowering the others.
What made this moment stand out was the contrast between the textured, rugged foreground and the smooth, calm water in the distance. The scene felt both grounded and open at the same time. It required patience and careful framing to allow those elements to work together in a way that felt natural to the coastline.
My seascape photography is built on returning to coastlines under changing tide, weather, and light — learning how water, wind, and terrain interact to shape each moment. What interests me most is not just the scene, but how conditions come together to create something that exists only briefly.
Over time, I’ve found that the strongest ocean images come from patience and timing — watching wave sets, understanding tide movement, and recognizing how light interacts with water. The more time I spend along the coast, the more these patterns begin to reveal themselves.
