"A Walk In The Woods" is a scene I photographed while moving slowly through an aspen grove at peak autumn. The forest was quiet, and what immediately drew my attention was the repetition of the white trunks — each one similar, yet slightly different — creating a natural pattern that extended in every direction. The light was soft, filtering through the canopy and allowing the golden leaves to glow behind the vertical lines of the trees.
The conditions were calm, which allowed the scene to hold its structure. Even a slight breeze would have disrupted the layering of color and form. What stood out most was the contrast — the pale bark of the aspens against the saturated yellows of fall. Moments like this don’t last long. The leaves turn quickly and fall just as fast.
