"Rainbow Dancers Of The Night" came together during a long winter night in Iceland, where I was positioned in a snow-covered landscape watching the sky for movement. Conditions had been quiet for a while, with only faint activity, but gradually the Northern Lights began to build — first as soft bands, then intensifying into faster-moving arcs stretching across the sky.
The challenge was keeping up with how quickly everything was changing. The light shifted from green into subtle purples and blues, forming patterns that moved and reshaped constantly. I worked to anchor the composition with the snow-covered terrain below, using it as a stable foreground while the sky remained dynamic and unpredictable. Exposure and timing had to be carefully balanced to capture both the structure of the landscape and the motion overhead.
What stood out was the sense of energy — the sky felt active, almost alive, while the ground remained completely still. Moments like this are impossible to control. You can only observe, anticipate, and respond as the scene evolves in real time.
Experiences like this are part of what continues to shape my approach to landscape photography, where awareness and patience allow these fleeting conditions to come together in a single frame.
