"Mystic Lunar Secrets" is a moment I photographed just before sunrise in the Tetons, when the full moon was setting behind the peaks as the first light of day began to reach the mountains. The sky was clear and cold, and the timing had to be precise — the alignment between the descending moon and the rising light only held for a brief window. What drew me in was that balance between night and day, both present in the same frame.
The light changed quickly. As the sun began to rise, the peaks picked up a warm glow while the moon remained soft and cool against the sky. That contrast — warm alpine light against the pale lunar surface — created a natural tension in the scene. Capturing it required planning and patience. I often rely on tools like the golden hour and moon phase planner to understand when these alignments are possible, but in the field, it comes down to watching closely and being ready when everything comes together.
Standing there, I was focused on how the mountain and sky interacted — how elevation, light, and celestial movement all connect.
