"Moon Waltz" came together through careful planning and timing, waiting for the precise alignment of a supermoon rising behind a snow-covered peak in the Rocky Mountains. I had been tracking the moon’s path in advance, knowing that for just a brief moment, it would appear directly behind the summit. Positioning had to be exact — even a slight shift would break the alignment.
The conditions were clear and stable, which made the visibility strong but also required precision in exposure. The brightness of the moon compared to the darker mountain created a narrow window where both could be held in balance. As the moon rose, it moved quickly relative to the peak, and the moment where it appeared centered behind the summit lasted only seconds.
What stood out was the scale — the mountain grounded and still, the moon moving steadily behind it. It created a visual relationship between earth and sky that feels simple but is technically difficult to capture. Moments like this depend on preparation as much as presence, combining timing, location, and awareness of how light and movement interact.
