I photographed this scene in New Hampshire during peak autumn, where a mountain stream worked its way down through layers of exposed granite. What drew me in was the natural path of the water — not a single drop, but a series of small cascades stepping down through the rock, framed by trees at full color.
The conditions were constantly shifting. The flow of the water changed slightly with each section of the stream, and the light filtering through the trees added variation across the scene. The challenge was finding a composition where the movement of the water, the structure of the rock, and the surrounding foliage all felt connected rather than competing for attention.
What stayed with me was the contrast between time scales. The water is always moving, always changing, while the granite beneath it holds the shape of the landscape over much longer periods. It’s a reminder that landscapes are built from both — constant motion shaping something that appears still.
My landscape photography is built on returning to the same places under changing light, weather, and season — learning how atmosphere, terrain, and time shape what we see. What interests me most is not just the scene itself, but how conditions come together to create a moment that only exists briefly.
