In “Flame Of Luminance”, I was positioned on the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, watching the first edge of the sun break over the horizon. The air was still and cold, and the sky held layered bands of warm color stretching out across the Gulf of Maine. From that elevation, the coastline and water below formed a series of soft contours that slowly revealed themselves as the light increased.
As the sun rose, its light spread quickly across the water, creating a defined path of reflection that shifted moment by moment. The conditions were stable, with minimal wind and a clear horizon, allowing the light to carry cleanly across the scene. What made this moment stand out was the precision — the brief alignment where the sun, horizon, and reflection came together before the light rose too high and the contrast flattened.

My seascape photography is built on returning to coastlines under changing tide, weather, and light — learning how water, wind, and terrain interact to shape each moment. What interests me most is not just the scene, but how conditions come together to create something that exists only briefly.
Over time, I’ve found that the strongest ocean images come from patience and timing — watching wave sets, understanding tide movement, and recognizing how light interacts with water. The more time I spend along the coast, the more these patterns begin to reveal themselves.
