"Crystal Waters" is a moment I experienced along the rugged coastline and waterfall systems of Iceland, where glacial water moves with a clarity and force that’s impossible to ignore. I was drawn to this section of cascading water as it spilled over dark volcanic rock — the contrast between the soft, flowing motion and the sharp, textured landscape created a balance that felt both calm and powerful.
The conditions were cold, damp, and constantly shifting. Spray from the falls moved through the air, and the light remained diffused under a heavy sky, allowing the tones of the water to stay clean and uninterrupted. I had to work carefully with timing and exposure to hold detail in both the movement and the surrounding rock. Scenes like this are where I rely on experience in the field and tools like my field tools to manage constantly changing moisture, light, and stability.
What held my attention most was the rhythm — the way the water repeated its movement while never forming the same pattern twice. It reflects how I approach landscape photography: observing motion, timing, and natural systems rather than forcing a static composition. Places like this reveal more the longer you stay and watch.
