Ideal for wildlife lovers, collectors, and nature-inspired spaces.
“Luminous eyes in the wilderness whisper the power of fearless grace.”
~ Robbie George
I photographed this mountain lion (Puma concolor) moving slowly through a snow-covered forest, partially concealed among conifers and low branches. It was navigating the landscape with deliberate movement, stepping carefully through the snow while remaining closely connected to surrounding cover. Dense woodland like this creates a layered environment where visibility, concealment, terrain, and movement all influence how an elusive predator travels through its habitat.
What made this encounter especially memorable was the brief direct line of sight. The mountain lion paused within a natural opening, creating a moment where posture, expression, winter habitat, and presence aligned. I remained at a respectful distance and allowed the animal to continue moving naturally rather than trying to reposition or influence the encounter.
Field Observation
My wildlife photography is built on time in the field — learning animal behavior, understanding habitat, and returning to landscapes through changing weather, light, and season. The photograph records one moment, but the larger value often comes from understanding the patterns surrounding that moment.
Tracks, posture, terrain, concealment, movement, season, and habitat all add information. Together they turn a wildlife sighting into a more complete field observation.

Naturepedia Field Observation Plate™
Puma concolor
FOP-003 is the canonical Naturepedia Mountain Lion field-reference plate associated with Robbie George mountain lion observations. It connects individual photographic encounters to species form, adaptation, tracks, movement, habitat, and other structural relationships within the broader Naturepedia system.
Each mountain lion photograph records a different encounter. FOP-003 provides the shared reference layer that connects those individual observations to the animal’s broader form, movement, tracks, adaptations, and ecological relationships.
This allows multiple photographs to connect to one canonical knowledge object rather than creating a duplicate plate for every image.
Follow the Evidence
A photograph reveals the animal directly. Tracks and other field sign reveal its presence when the animal itself is hidden. Together these different forms of evidence create a fuller picture of how mountain lions move through and use the landscape.

I’m Robbie George, a nature photographer and field observer whose work grows out of returning to landscapes through changing weather, light, and season and learning how wildlife reveals itself through behavior, movement, habitat, and relationship.
Naturepedia extends that work beyond individual photographs by connecting field observations to species, tracks, habitats, ecosystems, and other recurring patterns across the living world.
